How to Access the Local Dashboard

NOTE: This article also applies to FreedomFi 5G hotspots with the only difference being the URL. For FreedomFi units, you will use freedomfi-gateway.local rather than bobber-gateway.local. The gateway will also show up in your router's connected devices as freedomfi-gateway rather than bobber-gateway.

In order to access your Bobber 500's local dashboard, you will need to be on the same local network as the Bobber 500. Generally this means connected to the same router as the Bobber 500 and means you won't be able to access this dashboard over the internet from another location.

From your device, open a web browser and go to bobber-gateway.local to load the dashboard

If the dashboard does not load, it's possible the DNS server for the network has some issue loading .local domain names. In this case, you can type the local IP address of your Bobber 500 into the browser to load the page.

If you are unsure of the local IP of the Bobber 500, log into the router it's connected to and go to the "Connected Devices" page of the router. Look for a device named "bobber-gateway" and expand it to show the IPv4 Address. It is also recommended to reserve the IP for the Bobber 500 if possible to avoid having it change if the unit or router reboots. This will ensure you always know the local IP address without having to do extra work.

If you need assistance with logging into your router, finding information in your router, or editing any router settings please reach out to your ISP. Due to the large number of possible routers and ISP specific settings, Bobcat cannot assist with your particular internet connection. Some ISPs also require configurations to be made from an app or website while signed into your account, rather than the local router webpage. In these instances you should never share your login information with any support agent for assistance! Keep your credentials safe!

Miner Dashboard Information

  1. Miner Dashboard tab: Select this to see information about the Gateway (Bobber 500) rather than Radios
  2. Eth0 config: Status of the Bobber 500's WAN Ethernet port (not the eNB port). Should always show UP.
  3. Internet Access: Status of the Bobber 500's WAN connection to the internet. Should always show OK.
  4. Access to API Service: Bobber 500's connection to the API that feeds all status information to the dashboards. Should always show OK.
  5. Access to Dashboard Service: Bobber 500's connection to the dashboard service. Should always show OK.
  6. Access to Provisioning Service: Bobber 500's connection to the Spectrum Access System (SAS) which controls Radio provisioning and allows or disallows Radios to be On Air depending on CBRS regulations and current RF conditions. Should always show OK.
  7. Serial ID: The serial number of the Bobber 500 unit. You will need to provide this information if submitting a support ticket.
  8. Validator Status: Bobber 500's connection to a Helium Validator. For LoRaWAN (IOT) mining, Hotspots must be connected to a Validator which handles Proof of Coverage and serves blockchain information to the Hotspot. Should always show CONNECTED.
  9. Block Age: The age of the last block of the blockchain as reported by the connected Validator. If this is out of date, there might be an issue with the connection to the Validator. Should always show under 500 seconds.
  10. Miner Name: The animal name of your Gateway.
  11. Help Desk: Takes you to our Bobcat Knowledge Center where you can find tons of helpful articles such as this one! To submit a ticket, click the "Submit a request" link at the top right.
  12. ⭳ Support Logs: Will download a compressed file with all Gateway log files inside it named debug_log.tar.gz which you can send in with a support ticket. If sending in this file, please leave the default name and file extensions or it will not be able to decompress properly.
  13. Reset Cloud Connection 🗘: Resets the Bobber 500's connection to the Magma Orchestrator which is responsible for configuring the Gateway and Radios and pulling logging information from them. Only use this button if directed by Bobcat Support.
  14. Reboot: Reboots the Bobber 500 Gateway, but not attached Radios. Use this button if your Gateway is having issues.
  15. Update Gateway: Manually requests the latest Gateway firmware. Use this button if your Gateway firmware is out of date.
  16. Restart Miner: Restarts only the Helium Miner software, does not reboot the Gateway or Magma services. Use this button if your Helium Miner is having issues.

Gateway Version Information

  1. Miner Version: The Bobber 500's Helium Miner software version. This is the LoRaWAN/IOT Miner
  2. AGW Version: The Bobber 500's Access Gateway software version. This is the Magma Mobile Core software for MOBILE mining.
  3. Dashboard Version: The version of the local dashboard. Also shown on the Radio Dashboard page.

Radio Dashboard Information

  1. Radio Dashboard tab: Select this to see information about the Radio rather than the Gateway (Bobber 500)
  2. Choose Radio toggle: This will only display if more than one radio is connected to the Gateway. Select a radio to view its individual information.
  3. GPS Status: Status of the GPS lock for the radio. GPS positioning is required for all Radios to be On Air. Should always show LOCKED.
  4. Spectrum Access: The Radio's connection to the Spectrum Access System (SAS) which governs when it is allowed to be On Air. Should always show SUCCESSIf your outdoor Radio has not yet received CPI approval, this will show TRYING.
  5. Core Status: The Radio's connection to the Magma Mobile Core services in the Bobber 500 Gateway. Should always show CONNECTED.
  6. On Air: Indicates if the Radio is On Air and available for devices to attach. Must have a connection to the SAS and be approved before being allowed On Air per CBRS regulations. Should always show ONIf your outdoor Radio has not yet received CPI approval, this will show OFF.
  7. Device Serial: The serial number of your Radio. Compare this to readings on Helium Explorer or in the Bobber App Web Dashboard to identify which of your Radios are experiencing issues. You will need to provide this information if submitting a support ticket to your Radio vendor.
  8. Number of Connected Devices: The number of UE devices (phones) attached to this particular Radio. These devices are offloading their traffic through your 5G Radio and Gateway setup!

Radio Version Information

  1. SW Version: The software/firmware version of the Radio. This number will change if your Radio is updated over-the-air or by FreedomFi or Radio vendors.
  2. HW Version: The hardware revision of the Radio. In other words, what "version" of this brand/type Radio. This will not change due to updates.
  3. Dashboard Version: The version of the local dashboard. Also shown on the Miner Dashboard page.
