Mobile Device to Radio Setup Guide

Prerequisites:
  • Bobber 500 gateway is set up and working
  • Small Cell is set up and working.
  • Unlocked CBRS compatible Cell phone 

There are many other CBRS compatible devices that should work but have not been confirmed. You can find them here. See a few compatible cell phone examples below.

GigSky esim

If using a GigSky esim, please follow these steps: the steps involved are:
  • Download the GigSky app from the Apple or Google Play store.
  • Choose the United States as your plan destination.

  • Select "Helium Bundle" under the Plans for the United States

  • Set up the esim by following the Instructions Provided by GigSky. 

**The instructions below apply only to users who have physical FreedomFi sim cards. Bobcat does not presently include FreedomFi sim cards with the purchase of a Bobber 500. 

iPhone 

Step 1 – Insert the Sim Card

Use a paperclip or sim removal tool and install the FreedomFi sim card. Restart the device.

 

Step 2 – Toggle Airplane Mode

  • Settings 
  • Turn on Airplane mode
  • Turn off Airplane mode

 

Step 3 – Check Your Signal Indicator

  • Check the signal indicator on the top left

Step 4 – Test Data and Confirm the Connection

  • Turn off wifi to ensure you are using the small cell signal and run a speed test on the device. The connection process is now complete.

 

Troubleshooting

  • Settings Cellular 
  • Cellular Data Network 
  • Cellular Data 
  • APN internet
  • LTE Setup APN internet

Set APN Configuration:

Check for the network manually:

  • Settings  Cellular  Network Selection
  • Turn off auto
  • Verify you can see 315010

Android 

Step 1 – Insert the Sim Card

Use a paperclip or sim removal tool and install the FreedomFi sim card. Restart the device.

 

Step 2 – Toggle Airplane Mode

  • Settings Network & Internet
  • Turn on Airplane mode
  • Turn off Airplane mode

Step 3 – Check Your Signal Indicator

  • Check the signal indicator on the top right

Step 4 – Test Data and Confirm the Connection

  • Turn off wifi to ensure you are using the small cell signal and run a speed test on the device. The connection process is now complete.

 

Troubleshooting

  • If your device is not attaching to the Radio, try the following:

Set APN Configuration:

  • Settings  Network & internet 
  • Mobile Network  Advanced 
  • Access Point Names 
  • 3 Dots  New APN 
  • Name: internet
  • APN: internet
  • 3 Dots  Save

Check for the network manually:

  • Settings Network & internet
  • Mobile Network  Advanced 
  • Automatically Select Network 
  • Verify you can see FreedomFi
